So what’s this beast all about Let’s take a quick look at the FX types on board. I don’t own an Octatrack or Norns (I’ll be joining the Norns club soon, i have a Norns Shield kit coming) but i have a Digitakt that i play samples through and mangle them with the Microcosm and Mood. Hologram Electronics Microcosm Granular Pedal. I regularly flip gear when I get bored of it but both these pedals are inspiring every time i plug into them. I love both of these pedals, they are both special and different enough to justify owning both. The Mood spends 80% of the time on my guitar board, using the Drolo side for pads and freezing and the Old Blood side gives me the option of having an extra reverb / delay on my board. The Microcosm is more immediate and easier to use. #Hologram microcosm pedal upgradeUsed it a few times on guitar but i prefer it with synths (mainly because i don’t want to upgrade to a bigger pedalboard!). Its hard to compare them, while they are both granular glitchy pedals I find them really different. I’ll definitely be getting the CBA Faves Controller to access presets quicker and easier.įor me i use the Microcosm on synths, its easy to tweak and easy to see whats going on. It's possible to nail down the Mood in certain ways that result in cool stand-alone effects, which you can't get to on the Microcosm because it just doesn't give you the parameters. but FWIW the Mood can also do things the Microcosm can't. Cascading microloops can be locked into tight tap-tempo synced rhythms, diffused into glacial ambient textures, woven into hypnotic drones, and much more. Once i got into messing with the switches it opened up a million new things. The Microcosm can definitely do things the Mood can't. Microcosm rearranges and reinterprets your sound in new and exciting ways using a variety of granular sampling, delay, and looping techniques. For the longest time i was using it for droney pads and big reverbs or delay and not really touching the dip switches. I’ve had it for close to a year and i’m still finding crazy new things i can do with it. does the Microcosm play well with other pedals though in the videos ive seen, its being solod with one instrument(guitar or synth). The Mood on the other hand, i’ve found to be a box of secrets. Engineering the Sound took this psychedelic beast for a test drive.Hologram. Includes original packaging and accessories: User manual, quick guide, 9V DC power supply (for USA), two stickers. It was never used as a stomp pedal, I kept it on my desk and pushed the buttons with my fingers. I’ve had it a couple of weeks and feel like i’ve figured it out already, i need some more time to really master it but feel i have a good idea of what i can get out of it. Hologram Electronics has squeezed a universe of experimental tone into Microcosm. Hologram Microcosm effects pedal Excellent condition. It’s hard to compare them, while they are both granular glitchy pedals I find them really different.
